Crude Oil Prices See Slight Dip in Global Market, Pakistan Raises Fuel Prices
Despite rising tensions and fresh clashes between the United States and Iran, crude oil prices recorded a slight decline in the international market on Thursday.
According to foreign media reports, Brent crude futures fell by 43 cents, or 0.45 percent, to $95.20 per barrel. US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude also declined by 24 cents, or 0.26 percent, to $90.77 per barrel.
Analysts said the global oil market remains volatile due to ongoing geopolitical tensions. However, profit-taking by investors and expectations regarding global supply helped limit the decline in crude prices.
Meanwhile, despite the slight correction in international oil prices, petroleum products became more expensive in Pakistan. According to the new rates announced by the Petroleum Division for September 3, 2026, petrol prices increased by Rs2.29 per litre, while diesel prices rose by Rs1.11 per litre.
The increase in domestic fuel prices comes at a time when crude oil prices in the international market have recorded a modest decline. The development is likely to add further pressure on consumers, particularly motorists and businesses that depend heavily on fuel.
International crude prices, fluctuations in the Pakistani rupee, and other factors play an important role in determining petroleum prices in Pakistan. Market volatility is expected to continue as investors monitor developments surrounding US-Iran tensions, global supply conditions, and broader geopolitical risks.
