Military Leadership Takes Strict Notice of Sarhad University Islamabad Firing Incident

ISLAMABAD: The military’s top leadership has taken strict notice of a firing incident reported at Sarhad University Islamabad, according to sources.

Sources said a group of students had gathered at the university to protest over issues related to the Head of Department, fees and classes. During the protest, Head of Student Affairs Dr. Aina reportedly arrived at the scene to speak with the students.

According to the sources, an argument reportedly developed during the interaction, with some students allegedly misbehaving with the university official. Following the incident, Dr. Aina contacted her husband, who is a Pakistan Army officer, for assistance.

Sources said that when the officer reached the university, some students allegedly misbehaved with him as well. An unpleasant incident subsequently occurred, during which firing was reported.

The military officer involved in the incident has reportedly been taken into custody, while disciplinary proceedings have also been initiated against him.

According to sources, the Pakistan Army places significant importance on its disciplinary system, adherence to the law and justice. They said that any action against personnel found responsible for violating the law would be taken in accordance with the findings of the inquiry.

Sources further stated that the military follows a policy of taking immediate and strict action against violations of law without discrimination. The final course of action in the Sarhad University case will also be determined after completion of the inquiry and consideration of its findings.

The sources emphasized that violation of the law at any level is contrary to the Pakistan Army’s policy and that disciplinary measures would be taken against anyone found responsible.

The incident has drawn attention to the importance of maintaining discipline and ensuring that disputes within educational institutions are handled through lawful and institutional mechanisms.
