PIMS Tragedy: Five More Members of Islamabad Healthcare Regulatory Authority Board Resign

Resignations follow the board chairman’s departure, leaving only two members on the nine-member board

Islamabad: Following the PIMS tragedy, the resignation of members from the Board of the Islamabad Healthcare Regulatory Authority has continued, with five more members submitting their resignations after the board chairman.

The Ministry of National Health Services has received the resignations, leaving only two members remaining on the nine-member board.

According to details, those who have resigned include Professor Naeem Malik, Muti-ur-Rehman, retired Colonel Arif, Asma Khalil, and Finance Member Kashif Zahoor. The member for law had already resigned earlier.

With the latest resignations, six members of the nine-member board have now stepped down.

The remaining two members are currently out of the city, and their resignations are also awaited, according to the report.

The resignations come in the wake of the PIMS tragedy and have raised questions over the future functioning of the Islamabad Healthcare Regulatory Authority and its regulatory oversight of healthcare facilities in the federal capital.

The federal health ministry is expected to take further steps regarding the reconstitution of the regulatory authority’s board following the resignations.
