England Thrash Pakistan by an Innings and 103 Runs in First Test
LEEDS: England defeated Pakistan by an innings and 103 runs in the first Test at Headingley, taking a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
England scored 409 runs in their first innings, while Pakistan were bowled out for 171, giving England a massive 238-run lead. Harry Brook top-scored with 91 runs, while Jordan Cox, Joe Root and Dan Lawrence contributed half-centuries.
Pakistan struggled again in their second innings and were dismissed for just 135 runs. Mohammad Rizwan was the top scorer with 41 runs, followed by Shan Masood with 29 and Abdullah Shafique with 15.
For England, Ollie Robinson, Josh Tongue and Jofra Archer took three wickets each in the second innings to dismantle Pakistan’s batting lineup.
Earlier, Abdullah Shafique scored 61 and Imam-ul-Haq made 42 in Pakistan’s first innings. Robinson and Tongue claimed five wickets each.
The second Test will begin at Lord’s on August 27, while the third Test is scheduled to start at Edgbaston on September 9.
