Important Guidelines Issued for Pakistanis Working in UAE
ISLAMABAD: The Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment has issued important guidelines for Pakistani citizens living in or travelling to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for employment.
According to officials, the guidelines aim to help Pakistani workers avoid legal, travel and health-related difficulties while ensuring the protection of their rights during their stay in the UAE.
Pakistani workers have been advised to strictly comply with UAE laws and ensure that they work only under valid and legal work visas. Authorities have also urged workers to keep their Emirates ID and health insurance card with them at all times.
The guidelines further direct workers to receive their salaries through the Wage Protection System (WPS) and use only legal banking channels and authorised exchange services when sending money to Pakistan.
In case of labour or employment-related disputes, Pakistani workers can contact the UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) helpline at 80060 for assistance.
Authorities have also highlighted the importance of workplace safety. Workers have been advised to use appropriate protective equipment, including helmets and gloves, while performing their duties. They have also been urged to drink sufficient water during periods of extreme heat to prevent heat-related illnesses.
Pakistani citizens in the UAE have additionally been advised to keep emergency contact numbers readily available. The police can be contacted at 999, while the ambulance service is available at 998.
Officials said that following these guidelines would help Pakistani workers stay safe, safeguard their legal rights and minimise unnecessary difficulties while living and working in the UAE.
