iPhone 18 Pro Price Could Rise by Up to $200, Report Reveals
WASHINGTON: Apple’s upcoming iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max could be significantly more expensive than their predecessors, with a new report suggesting a potential price increase of between 10% and 20%.
According to technology research firm TrendForce, Apple may raise the prices of its next-generation Pro models amid rising production costs, particularly those associated with memory chips.
If the reported increase materializes, the iPhone 18 Pro could have a starting price of between $1,249 and $1,299, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max could start at approximately $1,349 to $1,399.
The report also provides an estimate for Apple’s long-rumored first foldable iPhone, which could reportedly be marketed as the iPhone Ultra. TrendForce estimates that the device could start at between $2,099 and $2,299, while higher-storage configurations could potentially cost more than $3,000.
Rising memory costs have reportedly emerged as one of the key factors behind the expected price increases. TrendForce estimates that the price of a 256GB memory chip has increased by around 400% compared with a year earlier. Meanwhile, the overall production cost of the 256GB Pro model is reportedly about 38% higher.
However, Apple may not necessarily pass the entire increase in manufacturing costs on to consumers. The company could reportedly absorb part of the additional expense by reducing its profit margins, potentially limiting the final price increase for customers.
The standard iPhone 18 is expected to follow a different launch schedule, with reports indicating that it could arrive in spring 2027. Its pricing could also be affected by the rising component and production costs, with a possible increase of 10% to 20%.
Despite the reports, Apple has yet to officially confirm the pricing of the upcoming devices. The final prices and specifications are expected to be revealed during Apple’s anticipated September 9 event.
If the reported figures prove accurate, the iPhone 18 Pro lineup could represent one of the company’s most significant price increases in recent years, while the potential launch of a foldable iPhone would introduce an entirely new premium tier to Apple’s smartphone lineup.
