Islamabad Police Declare Incident an Accident and Encourage Young Engineer

Islamabad: Details have emerged regarding the incident in which a driverless car collided with an Islamabad Police van, with a video statement from young engineer Ehsan Zafar Abbasi also released.

SP City Dr. Ayaz Hussain, appearing alongside the young engineer in a video message, said the footage of the driverless car colliding with the police vehicle had gone viral on social media. However, he said a detailed investigation was conducted and no crime was committed in the incident.

He said Ehsan Zafar Abbasi is a computer engineering student who was testing his invention. According to him, young people like Ehsan represent Pakistan’s future, and Islamabad Police supports and encourages such innovative efforts.

Ehsan Zafar Abbasi said he had established a laboratory at his home in 2018, where he conducts various practical experiments. He explained that he had developed a project to operate a driverless car through the internet and was testing the system when the incident occurred.

According to Ehsan, the car suddenly turned and collided with the police vehicle. He said that during an interview, the car was supposed to turn right but instead turned left, resulting in the collision.

The young engineer said Islamabad Police cooperated with him after the incident, tried to understand the system and also held a question-and-answer session with him.

Ehsan appreciated the police for their cooperation and said he would continue working on his projects in the future. He expressed hope that his efforts would help bring a positive image to Pakistan and serve as an example for other young people.

The Islamabad Police’s decision to treat the incident as an accident and encourage the young engineer has brought a new perspective to the incident that went viral on social media.
