Gull Feroza fined by ICC for code of conduct violation

DUBAI: Pakistan women’s team batter Gull Feroza has been fined 10% of her match fee and handed one demerit point for violating the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Code of Conduct during the Women’s Asia Cup match against Hong Kong.

According to the ICC, Feroza was found guilty of breaching the code of conduct during the match against Hong Kong. The incident occurred after the Pakistani batter was given out by the umpire.

Following the dismissal, Feroza made a gesture with her bat indicating that the ball had made contact with her bat. The ICC considered the gesture a violation of its Code of Conduct and imposed a penalty accordingly.

As a result, Feroza has been fined 10% of her match fee and received one demerit point. The disciplinary action comes as part of the ICC’s regulations aimed at maintaining appropriate conduct and respect for match officials during international cricket.

The incident took place during Pakistan’s Women’s Asia Cup campaign, where the team faced Hong Kong. The ICC’s decision highlights the governing body’s continued emphasis on player behaviour and adherence to the established code of conduct.

Players are expected to accept on-field decisions and avoid gestures or actions that could be interpreted as challenging or showing dissent towards match officials.

The one demerit point added to Feroza’s disciplinary record will remain relevant under the ICC’s player conduct regulations. Further penalties could apply if a player accumulates additional demerit points within the prescribed period.

The ICC has been increasingly strict about maintaining discipline during international matches, with players from different teams facing fines or demerit points for conduct-related breaches.
