Petrol and diesel prices without taxes revealed, what is the actual cost?

ISLAMABAD: The actual base prices of petrol and high-speed diesel in Pakistan, excluding government levies, taxes and various margins, have been revealed in official documents.

According to the documents, the current retail price of petrol is Rs367.75 per litre, while high-speed diesel is being sold at Rs392.67 per litre.

The documents show that the government collects various levies, taxes and margins from consumers as part of the final price of petroleum products.

According to the available figures, the actual price of one litre of petrol, excluding these charges, is Rs234.73. Compared with the current retail price of Rs367.75, there is a difference of Rs133.02 per litre.

The documents further reveal that Rs131.60 is being collected on every litre of petrol in the form of levies, taxes and margins. These additional charges have a significant impact on the final price paid by consumers at petrol stations.

The figures also provide details about the pricing structure of high-speed diesel. The current retail price of diesel stands at Rs392.67 per litre.

According to the documents, Rs122.55 is being collected on every litre of diesel through levies, taxes and margins. If these taxes and other charges are excluded, the actual base price of one litre of high-speed diesel comes to Rs270.12.

The data highlights the substantial difference between the base prices of petroleum products and their final retail prices after the addition of government levies, taxes and other margins.
