Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser paid tribute to workers on the occasion of Labour Day, stating that the working class plays a vital role in the country’s development and economic prosperity.
While addressing labourers in Islamabad, Asad Qaiser said he spent the day among workers who had travelled from different parts of the country to the federal capital in search of livelihood. He emphasized that the Constitution and laws of Pakistan guarantee every worker the right to live a dignified life, and these rights must be ensured in practice.
He highlighted that the labour class is the backbone of society and no nation can achieve sustainable development without their contribution. According to him, workers play a central role in driving the economy through their hard work and dedication, yet they still face challenges in accessing basic rights and facilities.
Asad Qaiser stressed that wages should be sufficient to enable workers to provide basic necessities for their families, including quality education and healthcare for their children. He expressed concern over rising inflation, noting that it has become increasingly difficult for labourers to afford even two meals a day.
He urged the authorities to take practical and immediate steps for the welfare of workers rather than limiting efforts to announcements. He said ensuring labour rights is essential for building a just and stable society, and neglecting this segment would hinder national progress.
The PTI leader further stated that the development of the country is directly linked to the sacrifices and hard work of the labour class. He called for respect and dignity for workers, adding that their issues should be addressed on a priority basis through effective policies.
Asad Qaiser also noted that the Constitution of Pakistan guarantees equality and justice for all citizens, making it the responsibility of the state to protect the rights of workers. He said that a prosperous labour class would ultimately lead to a stronger and more developed Pakistan.
In his Labour Day message, he praised the resilience and determination of workers and reaffirmed his commitment to raising their voice at all forums. He said that continued advocacy for labour rights is necessary to ensure social justice and economic stability in the country.
Overall, he stressed the urgent need to improve the living conditions of workers through coordinated efforts by the state, institutions, and policymakers, so that Pakistan can move towards a more equitable, prosperous, and sustainable future.
