Field Marshal Asim Munir, Kuwaiti Defence Minister Agree to Strengthen Defence Cooperation
RAWALPINDI: A high-level Kuwaiti delegation led by Defence Minister H.H. Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Saleem Al-Sabah, accompanied by Chief of General Staff Lieutenant General Khalid Darj Saad Al-Shriaan, met with Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi.
The meeting focused on matters of mutual interest, regional security and bilateral defence cooperation between Pakistan and Kuwait. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening institutional ties and expanding defence collaboration between the two brotherly countries.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to further enhance cooperation in the defence sector and strengthen existing institutional relations. The engagement reflected the longstanding strategic and friendly ties between Pakistan and Kuwait.
The Kuwaiti delegation also appreciated the professionalism, operational capabilities and valuable contributions of the Pakistan Armed Forces toward regional peace and stability. Kuwait’s officials acknowledged Pakistan’s role in promoting security and maintaining stability in the region.
Field Marshal Asim Munir and the visiting Kuwaiti officials reaffirmed their shared commitment to deepening defence relations and exploring opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation. The discussions also highlighted the importance of continued engagement between the armed forces of both countries.
Pakistan and Kuwait have maintained close and historic relations, with defence cooperation forming an important part of their bilateral ties. Both countries have regularly emphasized the importance of strengthening institutional and security partnerships in the interest of regional stability.
The visit comes amid broader efforts by Pakistan to enhance defence and security cooperation with friendly and partner countries. Such high-level engagements provide an opportunity to exchange views on regional developments and identify areas for greater cooperation.
The meeting at GHQ concluded with both sides expressing their resolve to further consolidate the historic and brotherly relationship between Pakistan and Kuwait into a strong, enduring and mutually beneficial defence partnership.
The two countries also reaffirmed that stronger defence cooperation and institutional ties can contribute to peace, security and stability across the region.
