HMC Launches Improvement Drive for Patient Waiting Areas on CM’s Directives
Peshawar: Junaid Toru
MTI Hayatabad Medical Complex (HMC) has launched a series of improvement measures across its patient waiting areas, in line with directives issued by the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to upgrade public healthcare facilities across all Medical Teaching Institutions (MTIs).
Under the directives, a centralized information system is being established to monitor the availability of emergency beds across various Intensive Care Units (ICUs), allowing for the timely transfer of patients to other institutions whenever required.
Acting on these instructions, the HMC administration has taken immediate steps of its own. Hospital Director Dr. Gulzar Ahmad Khan has directed the relevant departments to carry out a detailed assessment of the male and female waiting areas and to implement urgent improvements.
As part of the drive, the hospital is ensuring the availability and functionality of fans, sheds, water coolers, seating benches, and washrooms across all waiting areas.
The Chief Minister has noted that waiting areas for patient attendants are an important yet often overlooked component of healthcare facilities, and has called for regular monitoring and prioritized improvement of these spaces.
In line with this directive, a special inspection team has been constituted, comprising the Facilitation Manager, the OPD Manager, the Chairperson and members of the Accident & Emergency Department, and the Security Supervisor. The team will inspect all waiting areas and submit a detailed report on deficiencies and shortcomings by next Tuesday.
The administration has emphasized that these measures are aimed at ensuring maximum facilitation and a better environment for patients and their attendants.
