Babar Azam reportedly under pressure after Lord’s Test defeat and major changes in the Pakistan squad

London: Pakistan cricket team captain Babar Azam has developed a fever, according to sources, amid a tense atmosphere surrounding the national team following its heavy defeat in the Lord’s Test.

Pakistan suffered a 194-run defeat against England at Lord’s, while the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) also made major and sudden changes to the squad and coaching setup, sending seven players and members of the coaching staff back home.

According to sources, Babar Azam, who scored only 8 and 6 runs in the Lord’s Test, has been under considerable pressure following the team’s defeat and the PCB’s decision to send seven players and the head coach back to Pakistan.

Sources said the Pakistan captain is currently suffering from a high fever while staying at the team hotel in London.

When contacted regarding Babar Azam’s health, team media manager Naveed Akram Cheema confirmed that the captain had informed him about his condition.

However, Cheema said there was no need for concern, adding that Babar remains fit and is expected to recover soon.

The development comes at a challenging time for the Pakistan team, which is facing intense pressure following its disappointing performance in the ongoing Test series.

The PCB’s recent squad reshuffle has also generated significant discussion among cricket fans and former players, with questions being raised over the timing and effectiveness of the major changes.
