Three Killed, One Injured in Rickshaw-Dumper Collision in Swabi
SWABI: Three people were killed on the spot and another was seriously injured after a speeding rickshaw collided with a dumper truck on Manki Road in Swabi district.
According to Rescue 1122, the accident occurred when the rickshaw, reportedly travelling at high speed, collided with an oncoming dumper. The impact was severe, leaving the rickshaw badly damaged.
After receiving information about the crash, Rescue 1122 teams and ambulances reached the scene and launched a rescue operation. Rescuers retrieved the bodies of the deceased and the injured passenger from the wreckage.
The injured person was provided first aid at the scene before being shifted to a nearby hospital in critical condition. The bodies of the deceased were transported to District Headquarters Hospital Swabi for medico-legal formalities and post-mortem examinations.
Police also reached the accident site and began an investigation. Evidence was collected from the scene to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the collision.
Initial information suggests that overspeeding and reckless driving may have contributed to the accident. Police have taken the dumper driver into custody for questioning as part of the investigation.
The tragic incident has once again raised concerns over road safety on Manki Road, where residents say accidents occur frequently due to heavy traffic and speeding vehicles.
Local residents have urged the district administration and relevant authorities to take immediate measures to control overspeeding and regulate the movement of heavy vehicles on the road.
