Torrential Rains Leave Death and Destruction Across KP
PESHAWAR: At least two people have died and two others were injured in rain-related incidents across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa since August 17, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) said.
According to the PDMA, the casualties were reported after the roofs and walls of houses collapsed due to heavy rainfall. The deceased include one man and one woman, while the injured comprise one man and one woman.
The authority said heavy rains have also caused significant damage to homes across the province. A total of eight houses have been damaged, including five that were partially damaged and three that were completely destroyed.
Rain-related incidents have been reported in several districts, including Abbottabad, Swat, Buner, Swabi and Lower South Waziristan, highlighting the widespread impact of the ongoing weather system.
The PDMA said it is maintaining close coordination with Rescue 1122, district administrations and other relevant departments to respond to emergencies and provide assistance to affected communities. Relief and response operations are continuing in the affected areas.
Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant as further rainfall could increase the risk of additional incidents, particularly in vulnerable areas and locations prone to landslides, flooding and structural damage.
The PDMA Director General advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel and refrain from visiting sensitive tourist destinations during the adverse weather conditions. People have also been urged to closely follow official weather alerts, warnings and safety advisories issued by government authorities.
Tourists and residents in vulnerable districts have been advised to take precautionary measures and avoid unnecessary movement during heavy rainfall. Authorities are also monitoring the situation to ensure timely emergency response if conditions deteriorate.
The PDMA’s Emergency Operations Centre remains fully operational to coordinate relief and emergency response activities across the province.

The latest incidents once again highlight the risks posed by heavy monsoon rainfall in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly in areas where homes and infrastructure remain vulnerable to rain-related damage.
