Weeks After HEC Grant, Gomal University Students Still Await Scholarships
DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Deserving and financially disadvantaged students at Gomal University are still waiting for their need-based scholarship payments, despite reports that the university has already received the required grant from the Higher Education Commission (HEC).
According to sources, the distribution of scholarship cheques has been delayed for several weeks. Students were reportedly assured that the payments would be released after the university received the HEC grant at the end of July.
However, several weeks have passed and many eligible students have yet to receive their scholarship funds. The continued delay has caused financial difficulties for students who rely on these scholarships to meet their educational expenses.
Need-based scholarships are particularly important for students from financially weaker backgrounds, helping them cover costs associated with their studies and continue their education without placing an additional burden on their families.
Students say that the delay is creating uncertainty and making it difficult for them to manage their academic and personal expenses. They have urged the university administration to take immediate steps to complete the distribution process.
The students have also called for greater transparency regarding the status of the scholarship funds and the expected date of payment, saying eligible recipients should not have to wait indefinitely after the required grant has reportedly been received.
They have appealed to the university authorities to speed up the issuance of scholarship cheques and ensure that all deserving students receive their funds without further delay.
The students hope that the administration will resolve the matter soon and provide the pending financial assistance, allowing them to focus on their education without additional financial pressure.
