Peshawar BRT Fleet Expands as First Batch of 25 New Buses Arrives from China

PESHAWAR: Peshawar’s public transport system is set for a major upgrade as the first batch of 25 modern buses, out of a total order of 52 from China, has arrived at Karachi Port.

According to officials, the remaining 27 buses are expected to arrive in Pakistan soon. Once all the new buses are added, the total fleet of the Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system will increase from 244 to 296 buses.

Trans Peshawar officials said the fleet expansion aims to improve commuting facilities, reduce overcrowding and enhance the overall efficiency of BRT services across the city.

The addition of new buses is also expected to support the introduction of new routes and corridors, allowing more residents of Peshawar to benefit from the city’s modern public transport network.

Officials said the increased fleet will help improve bus availability on existing routes and reduce waiting times for passengers, particularly during busy hours.

The arrival of the first batch marks an important step in the expansion of Peshawar’s BRT network. Once the remaining buses arrive, authorities are expected to move ahead with plans to expand coverage and improve service frequency.

The fleet expansion is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen public transportation in Peshawar and provide residents with a more reliable, efficient and comfortable commuting option.
