KP Police Salaries May Increase by 250% Under Proposed Hard-Area Allowance

KP Police Salaries May Increase by 250% Under Proposed Hard-Area Allowance

PESHAWAR: The basic salaries of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police officers and personnel could see a 250% increase under a proposed hard-area allowance for officials serving in terrorism-affected areas.

Police authorities said recommendations for granting hard-area status to KP police personnel performing counterterrorism duties have been approved and forwarded to the federal government for consideration.

The KP Home Department had earlier submitted the recommendations to the federal government. Officials said details of the districts proposed for hard-area status will now be presented for further consideration.

Under the proposal, all districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa except Swabi and Hazara Division are expected to be recommended for hard-area status.

If the federal government gives final approval, a formal notification will be issued, officials said.

According to police authorities, the proposed allowance would result in a 250% increase in the basic salaries of eligible police officers and personnel.

Officials said the first request seeking hard-area status for KP was sent to the federal government in March 2025.

The KP Police has repeatedly demanded special financial incentives for its personnel, highlighting the risks faced by officers and soldiers during counterterrorism operations and the disparity in salaries compared with police personnel in other provinces.

The proposed allowance is aimed at providing additional financial support to police personnel deployed in high-risk areas and recognizing the challenges associated with counterterrorism duties.

However, the proposed salary increase will only take effect after approval from the federal government and issuance of the relevant notification.
