ICC Withdraws Demerit Point Against Gaddafi Stadium

ISLAMABAD: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has overturned the demerit point awarded to Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium after reviewing an appeal filed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

The stadium had received an “Unsatisfactory” pitch rating following the Pakistan-Australia third ODI on June 4. After reviewing match footage, referee reports and comments from the captains, the ICC Appeals Panel found that the pitch did not show excessive unevenness or spin.

As a result, the demerit point has been withdrawn, leaving Gaddafi Stadium with zero demerit points on its record.

The ICC also reviewed two pitch ratings issued to Canada’s Maple Leaf Cricket Ground. The demerit point from the June 8 match was withdrawn, while three demerit points from the June 16 “Unfit” rating will remain, as the panel determined that the pitch posed a safety risk.

Following the decisions, Gaddafi Stadium has a clean record, while Maple Leaf Cricket Ground remains on three demerit points.
