Misbah-ul-Haq Resigns After Receiving Notice Over Poor Selection, Sources

Islamabad: Following the national cricket team’s poor performance on its England tour, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to question players and members of the selection committee.

According to sources, the PCB issued a notice to selection committee member Misbah-ul-Haq, seeking an explanation over poor performance and alleged irregularities in team selection. Sources said Misbah had insisted on selecting certain players, but those players failed to perform as expected, prompting the board to seek an explanation.

Sources said that instead of responding to the PCB’s notice, Misbah-ul-Haq decided to resign and submitted his resignation to the board. He is currently serving his notice period and will leave the PCB after completing it.

The sources further said that the board will also question players regarding their poor performances and the team’s recent defeats, while the decisions made by the selection committee will also be reviewed.

Following Pakistan’s consecutive Test defeats against England, the PCB has already released seven players from the Test squad and removed head coach Sarfraz Ahmed and bowling coach Umar Gul from their positions.

The latest developments are expected to intensify the accountability process regarding team selection, coaching and players’ performances.

According to PCB sources, the board will review the factors behind the team’s poor performance on the England tour and consider necessary changes to the selection and team management setup for the future.
