Dengue Cases Rise to 339 Across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

PESHAWAR: Dengue cases continue to rise across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with 50 new infections reported during the past week, taking the provincial tally to 339, according to the Health Department.

The number of cases has increased from 289 last week to 339 this week, prompting authorities to intensify dengue prevention and control activities across the province.

According to the latest Health Department report, additional staff has been deployed in areas reporting higher numbers of cases to strengthen surveillance and prevention measures.

Authorities have so far eliminated dengue larvae from 551 houses, 1,280 water sources and 247 open sites across the province to prevent mosquito breeding.

Peshawar remains the most affected district with 152 reported cases, followed by Kohat with 85. Bannu has reported 19 cases, while Haripur has recorded 17 cases. During the past week, 13 new cases were reported in Peshawar and 16 in Kohat.

The Health Department has also stepped up public awareness efforts, with more than 87,000 dengue prevention campaigns conducted across the province.

Officials said 254,116 female workers have been trained to raise awareness at the household level. Through door-to-door visits, they are educating residents about the risks of stagnant water, keeping water containers covered and adopting preventive measures against mosquito bites.

Health authorities said surveillance and vector-control operations are continuing in affected areas to contain the spread of dengue.
