Shangla Road Accident Leaves One Dead, Three Seriously Injured

SHANGLA: One person was killed while three others sustained serious injuries in a tractor accident near Banar Khwargi in Alpuri Tehsil of Shangla on Tuesday, officials said.

According to officials, the accident occurred in the Banar Khwargi area when a tractor met with an accident, leaving four people injured. The exact circumstances that led to the accident were not immediately clear, while further details are expected to emerge as authorities continue to assess the incident.

Soon after receiving information about the accident, Rescue 1122 Shangla responded promptly and dispatched a medical team along with an ambulance to the site. Rescue personnel reached the location and found four injured people requiring immediate medical assistance.

The rescue team provided first aid to the injured at the scene. After providing initial medical care, all four victims were shifted to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital Alpuri in an ambulance for further treatment.

Hospital sources said that the condition of at least one of the injured was critical when the victims were brought to the facility. Medical staff immediately began treatment and made efforts to save the critically injured victim.

However, despite receiving medical treatment, one of the injured victims succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. The hospital administration later confirmed the death, raising the death toll from the accident to one.

The deceased was pronounced dead during treatment, while the remaining three injured victims continued to receive medical care at DHQ Hospital Alpuri. Hospital sources said the three survivors had sustained serious injuries and were being treated by medical staff.

The incident has once again highlighted concerns over road safety in mountainous areas of Shangla, where difficult terrain, narrow roads and challenging driving conditions can increase the risk of serious accidents. Local residents have frequently called for improved road infrastructure, safety measures and greater caution from drivers, particularly while operating heavy vehicles on difficult routes.

Authorities are expected to determine the precise cause of the accident as part of the ongoing assessment. Officials have not yet released further details about the identities, ages or conditions of the victims.

The accident has caused concern among residents of the area, while the death of one person has added to the growing concerns surrounding road safety in the mountainous district.
