ATC issues non-bailable arrest warrants for CM Sohail Afridi and other PTI leaders
ISLAMABAD: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Islamabad has issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and other Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders in a terrorism-related case registered at Ramna Police Station.
According to details, the court issued non-bailable warrants for Sohail Afridi, Meena Khan Afridi, Shahid Khattak and Shafi Jan, who have been nominated as accused in Ramna Police Station case No. 975/24.
The court directed the Station House Officer (SHO) of Ramna Police Station to arrest all four accused and present them before the court in accordance with the legal procedure.
The accused have been booked under terrorism-related provisions and other serious charges. The court’s latest order requires police authorities to ensure implementation of the warrants and produce the accused before the court.
The development comes as proceedings in the case continue before the Anti-Terrorism Court in Islamabad. The issuance of non-bailable arrest warrants marks a significant development in the ongoing legal proceedings involving senior PTI figures.
Sohail Afridi is currently serving as chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while Meena Khan Afridi, Shahid Khattak and Shafi Jan are also associated with the PTI. The case relates to allegations registered at Ramna Police Station, with the accused facing charges under terrorism-related and other sections of the law.
The court has instructed the relevant police authorities to take the accused into custody and bring them before the court. Further proceedings will determine the next legal steps in the case.
The issuance of the warrants comes amid continued legal proceedings involving PTI leaders in different cases. The latest order is expected to draw further political and legal attention, particularly because it involves the sitting chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
