Imran Khan’s Hospital Transfer Case: Contempt of Court Petition Allotted Number

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court Registrar’s Office has allotted a number to the contempt of court petition filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) regarding the transfer of PTI founder Imran Khan from jail to a private hospital.

The petition was earlier returned with an objection that a list of charges had not been provided to the alleged contemnors. PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar removed the objection by submitting the required list to the Registrar’s Office, following which the petition was allotted a number.

Meanwhile, petitioner Uzma Khan has also filed a miscellaneous application seeking an early hearing of the case. The application states that the matter should be fixed for hearing at the earliest in the interest of justice and requests that it be taken up during the current week.

Barrister Gohar had earlier said that PTI representatives met the Supreme Court Registrar at the Facilitation Centre, where objections to the petition were communicated. He said the objections would be removed and the petition would be re-filed.

The contempt petition concerns the alleged failure to transfer Imran Khan to a hospital despite court orders. PTI has requested the Supreme Court to declare the respondents guilty of contempt of court and take action against them under the law.

The petition also seeks the immediate transfer of Imran Khan to Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad.

The Prime Minister has been named as a respondent in the petition, along with the Federal Minister for Law and Information, Chief Commissioner Islamabad and Inspector General of Prisons. PTI has requested contempt proceedings against all respondents.
