KP Plans Electric Rickshaw Scheme After E-Bike Initiative for Women

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has announced plans to introduce an electric rickshaw scheme in the province following the launch of an electric bike initiative for women.

Speaking at the 57th meeting of the provincial cabinet, Afridi said the government was introducing an EV bike scheme under which female students and working women would receive electric bikes on merit. He said the first phase of the initiative would be launched soon.

The chief minister said an electric rickshaw scheme would also be introduced after the launch of the e-bike program, describing the initiative as a step toward promoting cleaner and more environmentally friendly transportation.

Afridi also directed authorities to accelerate work on the electric bus scheme planned for divisional headquarters across the province. He said providing citizens with modern and environmentally friendly transport facilities was among the government’s priorities.

The chief minister further instructed relevant officials to speed up work on development projects included in the Annual Development Programme (ADP) and ensure their completion within the निर्धारित deadlines.

He also called on the bureaucracy to move beyond traditional practices and ensure that public-interest projects are not delayed because of unnecessary bureaucratic hurdles.

During the cabinet meeting, Afridi also discussed the situation concerning PTI founder Imran Khan and called for implementation of judicial orders regarding his medical treatment.

The KP government, he said, would continue introducing initiatives focused on public facilitation, environmental protection and modern governance.
